Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian responded on the 6th at a regular press briefing to questions about the U.S. government’s request for China to pressure Iran in order to ease the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Lin Jian said that the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains tense, and that achieving a comprehensive ceasefire and ending the fighting as soon as possible would help ease tensions in the relevant waters. He also stressed that the territorial security and sovereign integrity of countries along the strait should be respected, that the legitimate concerns of regional countries should be taken seriously, and that the legitimate interests of the international community also need to be safeguarded.
