Three people, including the owner and workers, have been arrested for assaulting and detaining workers and failing to properly pay wages at a salt farm in Yeonggwang, South Jeolla Province.
The Yeonggwang Police Station in South Jeolla Province announced on the 15th that it had arrested the owner, Mr. A, and two workers on charges of repeatedly assaulting or confining three workers in their 50s and 60s during the operation and management of the salt farm.
Investigators found that the affected workers had entered the salt farm through a job placement agency and had worked there for anywhere from several months to more than three years. Police became aware of the case in May when one worker, who had lost his way and was wandering around, was rescued, and after investigating based on related testimony, confirmed the crimes.
