China's first quantitative hyperspectral intelligent computing satellite has successfully entered orbit

On July 22, China's first quantitative hyperspectral smart computing satellite, "Xiguang No. 201" (also known as "Caiyun Hyperspectral No. 01"), was launched aboard the Gravity1 remote four launch vehicle and successfully entered its planned orbit after liftoff over the waters of the East China Sea, marking the success of the mission. The satellite was jointly developed by the Yunnan Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources Exploration and Development, Yunnan Geology and Mineral Group Co., Ltd., and Xi'an Zhongke Xiguang Aerospace Technology Group Co., Ltd. It carries hyperspectral optical payloads, a panchromatic optical payload, and an onorbit intelligent processing payload, and is mainly used for natural resource survey and monitoring, while also serving applications across multiple industries. According to reports, the satellite is equipped with 70 fine hyperspectral bands, enabling more accurate identification of surface material characteristics. It can also complete data processing and intelligent analysis in orbit, reducing ineffective downlinks. The satellite operates in a sunsynchronous orbit at an altitude of about 535 kilometers, with a revisit period of about 4 days, covering the area from 80 degrees north latitude to 80 degrees south latitude. In the future, it will serve fields such as mineral exploration, agricultural and forestry monitoring, ecological protection, urban governance, and disaster emergency response.
