Anhui and Xinjiang have worked together to promote the development of the snake gourd industry in Pishan County, Hotan Prefecture, making it an example of driving local production growth and income increases. With support from Anhui’s Xinjiang aid efforts, relevant enterprises introduced the snake gourd cultivation and processing experience from Yuexi, Anhui, to Xinjiang, and carried out largescale planting by combining local sandy land and Gobi resources. Reports show that, through improved varieties and technologies such as doublelayer plastic mulch for alkali suppression and smart drip irrigation, the enterprise’s joint team with experts from the Academy of Agricultural Sciences has increased the local yield and quality of snake gourds. At present, Pishan County has built a 57,000mu standardized snake gourd base, along with supporting links such as organic fertilizer, Chinese medicinal slices, snake gourd seed processing, and winemaking, forming a complete industrial chain from cultivation to deep processing. In addition to industrial development, this project has also driven employment and increased collective income for villages. More than 2,500 local people now have stable jobs, and some villages have achieved income growth through largescale planting and contract purchases. The industry has also expanded to Yili, Kashgar, Aksu, and other areas. The report believes that this practice balances desert control, industrial development, and prosperity for the people, becoming an industrial aidtoXinjiang achievement in AnhuiXinjiang cooperation.
