According to a message on the Ministry of Emergency Management’s WeChat public account, the Office of the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters recently issued a notice to provincial flood control and drought relief command organizations and member units of the National Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters, requiring strengthened tourism safety management during the flood season and drawing lessons from recent flood and geological disaster incidents involving tourism in Gansu and other places. The notice points out that the current period is the critical stage of flood control, with frequent weather events such as heavy rainfall and typhoons, while summer travel is also at its peak. Scenic areas near water, slopes, cliffs, and the coast face increasing risks of flooding and geological disasters. The notice requires local authorities to fully shoulder tourism safety responsibilities, improve emergency plans and drill mechanisms for scenic areas, and promptly close scenic spots and evacuate tourists when disaster warnings are detected. At the same time, they should strengthen monitoring and forecasting, risk inspections, hazard rectification, and the prepositioning of supplies to enhance the ability to respond to sudden disasters. In addition, relevant departments will strengthen publicity on flood control, typhoon prevention, and outdoor travel risk avoidance through channels such as radio, television, the internet, and text messages, reminding tourists to pay attention to weather changes and safety advisories, avoid entering undeveloped areas, and remain calm and follow instructions when in danger.
