Hainan's five-year action plan for philosophy and social sciences focuses on the construction of the Free Trade Port strengthening theoretical research, think tank development, and international exchanges to support high-quality development
Hainan Province recently released the "FiveYear Action Plan for Philosophy and Social Sciences (2026–2030)", outlining the direction of work and key tasks for the next five years in line with the needs of free trade port development and the "15th FiveYear Plan" period.
According to the plan, Hainan will focus on multiple areas, including theoretical research, discipline development, think tank cultivation, key laboratory construction, talent development, and international academic exchange, to promote a closer integration of philosophy and social sciences with the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
In terms of research priorities, Hainan will strengthen research and interpretation in areas such as the free trade port with Chinese characteristics, cooperation in the South China Sea region, and Hainan's historical and cultural as well as maritime cultural studies. It will also continue to host events such as the China (Hainan)–ASEAN Think Tank Forum, creating a social science brand with Hainan characteristics.
