BYD Sealion 6 DM-i test drive review: rich convenience features are a strength, but the driving feel is disappointing

BYD Sealion 6 DM-i, abundant convenience features and a 1,000 km driving range for 37.5 million won Pros and cons confirmed in a Seoul–Paju test drive, be sure to check before buying

As a result of testdriving BYD's plugin hybrid SUV, the Sealion 6 DMi, in downtown Mapogu, Seoul and on the Jayuro in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, its rich array of convenience features for the price was identified as its biggest advantage. This vehicle came equipped with a 15.6inch display, an AI voice assistant, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, V2L functionality, and more, and its combined driving range for EV and HEV came close to 1,000 km. The selling price was 37.5 million won, which is quite low compared with typical PHEVs. However, there were some shortcomings in driving feel and overall refinement. Compared with its 1.9ton body, acceleration response and steering feel were somewhat dull, and it did not completely filter out road vibrations and noise. The software aspects, such as voice recognition, ADAS, and navigation integration, also lacked polish.
