New Trends in Global Governance of Artificial Intelligence: Xi Jinping Emphasizes People-Centered, Upright and Benevolent Principles Jointly Building a Fair and Reasonable Governance System to Promote AI in Serving Common Prosperity and Security
On the morning of July 17, President Xi Jinping attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and HighLevel Meeting on Global AI Governance at the Shanghai World Reception Hall, and delivered a keynote speech.
Xi said that in the face of new issues brought about by the rapid development of artificial intelligence, countries should uphold a peoplecentered and upwardly virtuous philosophy, and promote AI to better serve common prosperity and common security.
He also pointed out that as machines take part in thinking and algorithms enter decisionmaking, safety, ethics, and inclusive governance all need to advance in step. China believes that the international community should work together to build a fair and reasonable global AI governance system.
