The faded Daewoo old car is spotlighted again in Bupyeong

An oldcar special exhibition bringing together Daewoo Motor's representative models was held at the promotional hall of the GM Korea Bupyeong Plant in Bupyeonggu, Incheon. This exhibition, held to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the founding of the labor union, was a place to look back on the history of Daewoo Motor, from the 1978 Record Royale to the Tico, LeMans, Cielo, Magnus, and Tosca. The exhibition showed both the status Daewoo Motor once held in Korea's automobile industry and the current reality of GM Korea. Unlike Daewoo Motor, which once produced 11 models and competed with Hyundai Motor, GM Korea is producing only four models in total for domestic sales and exports as of 2026. Domestic sales in May also reportedly fell sharply. The union said this event should not be limited to mere nostalgia, arguing that the company's retained earnings should be reinvested in new vehicle development. Voices were also raised that the exhibition should serve as an opportunity to establish employment stability at the Bupyeong Plant and build a sustainable production base.
