President Lee Orders Review of Livelihood Support for Artists and the Sofika System

With a review of introducing the Sofika system, investment in the film and video industries is expected to be revitalized From support for artists to 대응 to personal information leaks, check out the key policy changes

President Lee Jaemyung presided over a senior aides' meeting at the Blue House on the 11th and instructed officials to actively review the introduction of the Frenchstyle SOFICA system to boost investment in the film and video industries. SOFICA is a French support scheme that provides tax benefits when private capital is invested in the film and video sectors. President Lee ordered officials to closely examine the possibility of reflecting such a policy if it is a system whose effectiveness has already been verified overseas. The proposal was first mentioned by director Lee Changdong during the president's visit to France. That day, President Lee also reviewed the system for supporting artists' creative work. He said that backing artists working in the cultural and arts field so they can maintain the minimum standard of living is the way to strengthen cultural and artistic capabilities. Meanwhile, regarding the largescale personal information leak incident involving the online video service Tving, the president emphasized the need to quickly determine the facts, strictly hold those responsible accountable, and prevent secondary crimes.
