Fujian Province’s ecological and environmental quality continues to rank among the best in the country

The Fujian Provincial People's Government Information Office held a press conference on June 5 to introduce the 2025 Fujian Province Environmental Status Bulletin and the key work on ecological and environmental protection. The head of the Fujian Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment said that in 2025, while the province continued to advance carbon reduction, pollution reduction, green expansion, and growth, the quality of the ecological environment remained stable and improving, ranking among the top in the country. Looking at the main indicators, Fujian Province maintained a relatively good level of urban air quality. The proportion of days with good air quality in cities with districts reached 98.4%, and the annual average concentration of PM2.5 fell to 18.9 micrograms per cubic meter. In terms of water environment, the proportion of nationalcontrolled sections in the main river basins with excellent water quality has remained at 100% for two consecutive years; among them, the Minjiang River achieved allexcellent water quality across the entire basin for the first time. The water quality of centralized drinking water sources for domestic use also all met the standards. The proportion of excellent seawater in the coastal areas reached 94.6%, continuing to improve year on year. The press conference also mentioned that the province's ecological quality index (EQI) was 75.36, ranking among the top in the country, and that the overall quality of the acoustic environment and radiation environment remained stable. Relevant departments said that Fujian will continue to promote the coordinated advancement of ecological and environmental protection and highquality development on the existing basis.
