It has been confirmed that 17,551 pieces of customer linked information were leaked from Woori Bank. The bank explained that the information was leaked due to employee negligence at an external development company that was in charge of building the NFT platform.
The leaked information is said to be CI, an encrypted identifier for customer identification, and nicknames for NFT services, and does not include sensitive personal information such as resident registration numbers, account information, or addresses. Woori Bank stated that there have been no cases of the information being misused so far.
After becoming aware of the leak, Woori Bank blocked related access and reported the incident to the Personal Information Protection Commission and others. It also advised customers to be cautious of links in phone calls or text messages from unknown sources, and promised prompt confirmation and compensation if additional damage occurs.
