Li Hongzhong Inspects the Implementation of the Food Security Guarantee Law in Anhui and Henan

The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress lawenforcement inspection team recently conducted inspections in Anhui and Henan on the implementation of the Law on Ensuring Food Security. Li Hongzhong, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said that guided by General Secretary Xi Jinping's important statements on national food security, efforts should be made to promote the comprehensive and effective implementation of the law and provide legal safeguards for consolidating the foundation of national food security. During the inspection, the lawenforcement inspection team carried out onsite visits in Anhui and Henan respectively, and conducted research on seed industry development, the construction of grain production bases, grain procurement, storage and processing, socialized services, the supply of agricultural inputs, and deep processing, while also hearing reports from the governments of the two provinces on the implementation of the Law on Ensuring Food Security. Li Hongzhong pointed out that Anhui and Henan, as major grainproducing provinces, have played an important role in implementing the Law on Ensuring Food Security and enhancing food security capabilities. He stressed the need to firmly shoulder the statutory responsibilities for food security, improve investment mechanisms, strengthen arable land protection and the construction of highstandard farmland, advance scientific and technological innovation in the seed industry, reinforce reserve, circulation and emergency support, and, through lawenforcement oversight and legal education and publicity, form a joint legal force to safeguard national food security.
