Nine departments announce that the pilot program for occupational injury protection will be rolled out nationwide starting July 1

According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and eight other departments, starting July 1, the pilot program for occupational injury protection for workers in new forms of employment has been fully rolled out across all 31 provinces in China and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps. This pilot program is mainly aimed at workers in new forms of employment such as food delivery, ridehailing, and local freight transport. It operates on a daily enrollment, perorder billing, and monthly contribution basis, with the goal of adapting to the characteristics of high personnel mobility and multiplatform employment, while improving enrollment and administrative efficiency. Public information shows that since the pilot began in July 2022, it has covered 11 leading platform companies in three industries: transportation, ondemand delivery, and local freight transport, with a cumulative total of 29.902 million insured participants. After this expansion, more platform companies and small and mediumsized platforms will also be gradually included in the protection scope under the principle of “including one batch as another becomes mature.”
