On the afternoon of July 17, President Xi Jinping met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, who was visiting China to attend the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference and HighLevel Meeting on Global AI Governance and to carry out a working visit, at the Shanghai Xijiao State Guest Hotel.
Xi Jinping said that ChinaCambodia friendship has withstood the test of time, and the two sides should continue to carry forward the traditional friendship forged by the older generation of leaders, enhance strategic mutual trust, advance the “Diamond Hexagon” cooperation, and promote the continued deepening of the building of a ChinaCambodia community with a shared future. China is willing to strengthen exchanges with Cambodia on experience in governing the Party and the country, and expand cooperation in areas such as industrial development, agriculture, electricity, artificial intelligence, the digital economy, and infrastructure.
The two sides also exchanged views on issues including combating crossborder crime, advancing global governance of artificial intelligence, implementing the four global initiatives, and the situation along the CambodiaThailand border. Hun Manet said that Cambodia will continue to pursue a friendly policy toward China, firmly adhere to the oneChina principle, and is willing to deepen political mutual trust with China, expand cooperation in trade and projects, and continue to ease regional disputes through dialogue.
