Central Social Work Department: Strengthen Care for New Employment Groups
Accelerating the protection of rights and interests and urban integration for new employment groups Platform-standardized employment and the construction of friendly environments help promote stable development
On September 9, the State Council Information Office held a themed press conference in the series "A Strong Start to the 15th FiveYear Plan." Zhao Shitang, spokesperson and vice minister of the Central Social Work Department, said that in recent years the scale of the new employment groups has continued to expand, and relevant departments will keep strengthening care and support to help them better integrate into urban life and achieve career development.
Zhao Shitang introduced that the key areas of work include safeguarding lawful rights and interests such as labor remuneration, rest and leave, work safety, and social insurance, while also promoting standardized employment practices among platform companies and addressing issues such as unreasonable order assignment and opaque pricing rules. The comprehensive governance of platform algorithms launched earlier has been expanded from 8 key platforms to more companies.
He also noted that localities are improving the construction of "friendly scenarios" to address the practical needs of groups such as couriers, food delivery riders, and ridehailing drivers in entering premises, parking, charging, dining, and resting. Some areas have also built "driver homes" and rider apartments, and provide skills training to support new employment groups in working and living more stably.
Zhao Shitang said that in the future, efforts will continue in areas such as rights and interests protection, care and support, social integration, and participation in social governance, to help new employment groups solve their urgent, difficult, and pressing problems and contribute more to grassroots governance.
