According to a July 3 notice from the Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Chen Jiyong, former deputy general manager of Guangxi Forestry Group Co., Ltd., has been placed under investigation and disciplinary review for serious violations of Party discipline and the law, and has been given sanctions. The notice said that Chen Jiyong had lost his ideals and convictions, violated the spirit of the Central EightPoint Regulations, and was involved in issues such as illegally accepting gifts and money, accepting banquets that could affect the fair performance of his official duties, and engaging in profitmaking activities in violation of regulations. He also took advantage of his position to seek gains for others in areas such as project contracting, mineral development, and handling environmental protection issues, and illegally accepted huge amounts of money and property. In accordance with relevant regulations, Chen Jiyong was expelled from the Party and dismissed from public office, and the illicit gains from his violations of discipline and law were confiscated; the suspected criminal issues and involved assets have been transferred to the procuratorate for review and prosecution in accordance with the law.
