Typhoon “Hongxia” is Approaching Guangdong, and the National Flood Control Headquarters Has Sent a Working Group to Assist in Prevention

On July 24, the National Flood Control Office and the Ministry of Emergency Management organized consultations and dispatching to assess the development trend of Typhoon No. 12, "Wuxia," and deployed flood control and typhoon preparedness work. At 9 a.m. that day, the National Flood Control Office activated a Level IV emergency response for flood control and typhoon preparedness in Guangdong and Fujian, and sent a working group to Guangdong to assist and guide defense efforts. According to the consultation and assessment, Typhoon "Wuxia" is expected to make landfall along the coast from Zhuhai to Raoping in Guangdong between the night of the 25th and the morning of the 26th, and some parts of South China and the Jiangnan region may experience relatively strong wind and rain impacts. The base water levels in rivers, lakes, and reservoirs in the relevant areas are relatively high, and the current flood control and typhoon preparedness situation is rather severe. Relevant departments require local authorities to fully shoulder their responsibilities and do a good job in bringing fishing vessels back to port, evacuating people ashore, inspecting and eliminating hidden risks, preventing mountain floods and urban waterlogging, coordinating engineering operations, and relocating people to safety. They are also required to preposition rescue forces and supplies in key areas in advance to enhance emergency response capabilities.
