Haikou marine tourism upgrade: new business formats such as yachts, sailing, and study tours are accelerating their rollout Connecting coastal consumption scenarios to drive new growth in sports-tourism integration and the inbound market

Haikou, June 8th — At a press conference on the "15th FiveYear Plan" for the development of Haikou's marine economy, Haikou City said that in the coming years it will continue to focus on marine tourism, with an emphasis on advancing in four areas: industry upgrading, product innovation, integration of sports and tourism, and brand building. A relevant official from the Haikou Municipal Bureau of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports said that Haikou will rely on its tropical coastal resources, improve shortcomings in tourism supporting facilities, develop new business formats such as yacht leisure, sightseeing cruises, marine study tours, and coastal hot springs, and connect consumption scenarios such as coastal cuisine, dutyfree shopping, performing arts, exhibitions, and water sports to enhance the diversity of tourism products. At the same time, Haikou also plans to build more distinctive products around signature activities such as sailing and yachting, promote the implementation of projects such as sailing leisure, sea parties, and nautical study tours, and drive the development of coastal leisure tourism through sailing races, dragon boat races, beach events, and trendy new water sports. The local area will also tap into the folk customs of fishing ports and coastal historical resources, strengthen the development of local cultural and tourism IP, and expand crossregional cooperation and inbound tourism markets.
