Recently, multiple officials in Qinyuan County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province have been investigated one after another, involving emergency management and law enforcement positions. Previously, Zhao Yongjin, secretary of the Qinyuan County Party Committee, was reported on June 2 to have been placed under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation.
According to a notice from the local CCDI and supervisory commission, Sun Xiaoye, Party secretary and director of the Qinyuan County Emergency Management Bureau, Yue Xiaodong, a member of the Party committee, and Zhang Qian, captain of the First Law Enforcement Team of the Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Team for Emergency Management, are all under review and investigation on suspicion of serious violations of discipline and law.
This series of notices came after a major gas explosion accident at a local coal mine. On May 22, an accident occurred underground at Shanxi Tongzhou Group Liushenyu Coal Industry Co., Ltd., killing 82 people, leaving 2 missing, and injuring 128. After the accident, relevant departments of the State Council and Shanxi Province have launched investigations and rectification efforts, and stressed that accountability must be seriously pursued and coal mine safety supervision strengthened.
