Three Officials in Shanxi Were Investigated on the Same Day

On July 20, Zhang Wenbo, Party Secretary and Director of the Changzhi Municipal Emergency Management Bureau in Shanxi, as well as Zhang Chengzhi, a Party Leadership Group member and Deputy Director of the Shanxi Bureau of the National Mine Safety Administration, and Li Zhongyou, a Party Leadership Group member, Chief Engineer, and Level2 Inspector, were all reported on the same day to be under disciplinary review and supervisory investigation. Public information shows that the relevant investigation is related to a coal mine gas explosion accident in Qinyuan County, Changzhi, Shanxi, earlier. The accident occurred on May 22, leaving 82 dead, 2 missing, and 128 injured. At present, the specific violations of discipline and law by the three are still under investigation.
