President Lee Jaemyung expressed deep regret over the shortage of ballots that occurred in the June 3 local elections and urged the National Election Commission to respond responsibly.
On the 7th, President Lee pointed out on Facebook that this incident was a serious issue that greatly violated the people's right to vote, and requested that the National Assembly promptly push ahead with a parliamentary investigation to determine the facts and prepare measures to prevent a recurrence.
He also stated that, at the government level, he had instructed the formation of a joint investigation headquarters involving prosecutors and police to clarify responsibility and thoroughly investigate the full circumstances of the case. In this election, voting was suspended in 50 locations nationwide due to ballot shortages, and the confusion continued.
