China-Laos-Myanmar-Thailand Mekong River Joint Patrol and Law Enforcement Operation Concludes
The Mekong River joint patrol and law enforcement operation concluded successfully, with the four countries carrying out an 11-day joint patrol over 1,100 kilometers. Strengthening border crackdowns and information sharing to safeguard basin security and promote law enforcement cooperation
According to the Yunnan Provincial Public Security Department, the 164th joint patrol and law enforcement operation of China, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand on the Mekong River concluded on April 30. During this operation, the four countries dispatched a total of 131 law enforcement personnel and 5 law enforcement vessels, spanning 11 days and covering a total voyage of more than 1,100 kilometers.
During the operation, the four countries carried out joint patrols and segment patrols in the waters from Jingha on the Lancang River to the Golden Triangle area of the Mekong River, focusing on cracking down on crossborder illegal and criminal activities while ensuring the safety of vessels in the basin and residents along the riverbanks.
At the same time, the four countries also held a multilateral information exchange meeting in Chiang Saen, Thailand, where they exchanged views and reached consensus on issues such as border management, combating crossborder crimes, clue verification, and information sharing, further promoting law enforcement cooperation.
