The Navy said on the 13th that it had found and recovered the body of a frigate crew member who went missing at sea near the Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the East Sea.
The soldier was last seen the previous day aboard a naval vessel carrying out a patrol mission about 50 km east of Geojineup, Goseonggun, and then went missing. His disappearance became known after he failed to report for duty, and the Navy and the Coast Guard have been conducting searches using ships and aircraft.
Given that the area where he went missing is near the NLL, the military also notified North Korea of the disappearance via a communications network that North Korea can receive.
