Shanghai Holds Signing Ceremony for the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization Agreement

The signing ceremony for the Convention of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization was held in Shanghai on July 16. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the ceremony and signed the Convention on behalf of the Chinese government.
The Convention makes it clear that the organization is an independent intergovernmental international organization that will follow the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, advocate extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, emphasize a peoplecentered approach, and aim to promote international cooperation and global governance in artificial intelligence, fostering the development of AI in a beneficial, safe, and fair direction.
According to the Convention, the headquarters of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization will be located in Shanghai. Representatives from 29 countries, including Kazakhstan, Laos, Pakistan, Russia, and Indonesia, signed the Convention and became founding members. Representatives from countries and international organizations, including UN SecretaryGeneral Guterres, attended the ceremony.
