A protest calling for a reelection has continued for the third day near the Jamsil counting center in Songpagu, Seoul, after a shortage of ballots occurred in the June 3 local elections.
On the morning of the 7th, around 1,000 people gathered, according to police estimates, and participants chanted slogans while holding placards and Taegeukgi flags. Some of them reportedly came from other areas, including Incheon and Paju, and joined the scene.
The protesters demanded an explanation for suspicions of poor election administration and called for a reelection. Police deployed personnel to maintain order at the scene, but said there are no plans for a forced dispersal.
