Director Na Hong-jin, in an interview for the film 'Hope,' opens up about production hardships

Director Na Hongjin opened up about the difficulties of the production process ahead of the release of the film 'Hope.' In an interview held in Samcheongdong, Seoul on the 7th and at a press conference the day before, he candidly spoke about the burden of feeling as though postproduction had not yet been completed and the hardships of the long production schedule. Director Na explained that he is still continuously checking detailed work such as sound and creature implementation, and that he has not been able to rest in order to improve the film's quality. He mentioned the hard work of the production team and also expressed his respect for the staff, especially those in charge of complex technical work. 'Hope,' an official competition selection at the 79th Cannes Film Festival, tells the story of Beomseok, the head of the Hopo Port branch office near the DMZ, who hears news of a tiger sighting and the village falls into chaos. The film stars Hwang Jungmin, Jo Insung, Jung Hoyeon, Michael Fassbender, and Alicia Vikander, among others, and is scheduled for release in South Korea on July 15, followed by a gradual overseas rollout starting in North America in September.
