Ministry of Land Establishes a Dedicated Organization to Identify Candidate Sites for Public Housing
By establishing the Public Land Survey and Development Division, we will speed up housing supply. Expect expanded public housing supply through strengthened candidate site identification and management.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has newly created a dedicated organization to survey and identify new public housing sites in order to speed up the supply of public housing. This reorganization is the first since Minister Hong Jiseon took office.
The ministry said on the 1st that it had newly established the Public Land Survey and Development Division, which is responsible for the survey, candidate site identification, and management of new public housing sites to expand housing supply. This organization was set up under the Head of the Housing Supply Promotion Headquarters, which was created in December last year.
The new division will be in charge of finding candidate sites where public housing can be built and analyzing development potential and limiting factors. It will also be responsible for establishing a candidate site analysis system and setting priorities. The ministry explained that this means it will move away from the existing structure, in which multiple tasks were handled together, and respond more efficiently by further strengthening manpower and security.
