Youth Housing Support Measures, Easing Income Requirements and Expanding Guarantees
Expand youth housing support, increasing benefits for monthly rent, deposits, and public rental housing With relaxed eligibility requirements, more young people can reduce their housing cost burden
The government will expand support starting next year to reduce housing burdens for young people. This measure, reflected in the 2027 budget plan, includes strengthening monthly rent support, guarantee support, and public rental housing supply.
The income requirement for the youth monthly rent support will be eased from the existing 60% of median income to 100%. As a result, more young people will be able to receive support of up to 200,000 won per month for up to 24 months, and for young people in the lowermiddleincome bracket or below, the support period will be extended to up to 48 months.
A combined jeonse and monthly rent guarantee product for semijeonse residents will also be introduced starting next January. The eligibility for support for jeonse deposit refund guarantees and the housing standards will also be expanded, and the income requirement for joining the Youth Housing Dream Account will also be raised. In addition, the plan includes a loan product to help with the purchase of a first home and a plan to supply 20,000 units of youthpreferred public rental housing.
