Declarations of candidacy by candidates for the Supreme Council are continuing ahead of the August 17 Democratic Party convention.
Within the party, figures aligned with the proLee Jaemyung and proJeong Cheongrae camps are each forming groups of candidates, while figures outside the National Assembly are also stepping forward to challenge with young candidates at the forefront. This Supreme Council election is for five seats and will serve as the core of the party leadership, which is made up of nine members.
