China Successfully Completes First 100-kilowatt-Class Carbon Dioxide Power Generation Demonstration Verification

Successful demonstration of supercritical carbon dioxide closed-cycle power generation, helping upgrade efficient waste heat utilization 100-kilowatt-class full-power verification implemented, expanding applications in distributed energy and energy conservation and emissions reduction

The China National AeroEngine Group recently completed a power generation demonstration test of a 100kilowattclass supercritical carbon dioxide closedcycle power unit, marking the first time China has successfully completed a fullpower power generation demonstration verification of a carbon dioxide power unit at this power level. According to reports, the unit operated stably during the test, and all performance data met the design targets, verifying the feasibility and advanced nature of the relevant technical route. The technology uses carbon dioxide as the working medium and completes the heating, workproducing, and cooling cycle within a closed system to generate electricity. The report noted that, compared with traditional steam power systems, such units have certain advantages in terms of efficiency, size, operating flexibility, and environmental performance, making them suitable for scenarios such as waste heat power generation from small and mediumsized gas turbines, waste heat utilization from flue gas in small and mediumsized factories, and distributed energy. The project team said that the next step will be to continue expanding application scenarios and develop products at different power levels to support energy conservation and emissions reduction.
