Typhoon "Maysak" passes through Hainan, Sanya and other areas hit by torrential rain

The Hainan Provincial Meteorological Observatory reported on July 4 that after Typhoon No. 10 of this year, "Maysak," made landfall, there was significant heavy rainfall in southern Hainan. In some townships and towns in Sanya, Ledong, and other areas, rainfall exceeded 300 millimeters, with the heaviest rainfall recorded in Jiyang District of Sanya City, reaching 397.7 millimeters. According to reports, "Maysak" made landfall along the coast of Yelin Town, Lingshui, on the evening of July 3. At the time of landfall, the maximum wind force near the center was about force 9. It then crossed Hainan Island during the night and moved into the northern waters of the northern Beibu Gulf. Affected by the typhoon, the southern part of Hainan Island generally experienced heavy to torrential rain, with extremely heavy rain in some local areas, while the rest of the region mainly saw moderate to heavy rain. The meteorological department expects relatively strong rainfall to continue in the southwestern half of Hainan Island on the 4th. Relevant areas need to guard against urban and rural waterlogging, flash floods, and geological disasters, and strengthen safety inspections and control measures for tunnels, culverts, underground garages, and potential geological disaster sites.
