The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes that the European side will resolve differences through dialogue and consultation

China-EU economic and trade relations: Guo Jiakun calls for dialogue and consultation to maintain the stability of industrial and supply chains Follow trade trends among China, the UK, and Europe, and interpret the impact of tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles and the global market

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on October 6 that China hopes the European side will move toward China, properly address each other’s concerns through dialogue and consultation, jointly safeguard the stability of global industrial and supply chains, and promote the healthy and stable development of ChinaEU economic and trade relations. In response to the German and French side’s letter to the President of the European Commission, calling for granting the EU new powers to deal with countries that “disrupt trade relations,” Guo Jiakun said that ChinaEU industrial and supply chains are deeply integrated and interdependent, and the essence of their economic and trade relations is mutual benefit and winwin cooperation. He stressed that the two sides should resolve differences through communication rather than allow trade frictions to escalate. Regarding the United Kingdom’s consideration of raising import tariffs on electric vehicles from China, Guo Jiakun said that economic and trade exchanges should give full play to each side’s comparative advantages and achieve mutual benefit and winwin results. He also noted that Chinese electric vehicles provide global consumers with competitive choices and have made positive contributions to the green and lowcarbon transition.
