Jeonbuk Province to Drive Restructuring of the Industrial Ecosystem in Linkage with Hyundai Motor Investment
Jeonbuk’s industrial structure transformation, strengthening robotics, hydrogen, and AI hubs through Hyundai Motor’s investment in Saemangeum Check out the regional strategy aiming for growth across 14 cities and counties, as well as expanded jobs
Jeonbuk Province is set to begin work on reshaping the region's industrial structure, using Hyundai Motor Group's largescale investment in Saemangeum as a catalyst. The province plans to strengthen the industrial base of all 14 cities and counties together, with robots, hydrogen, and artificial intelligence (AI) data centers as the core pillars.
Hyundai Motor Group plans to invest a total of 8.9 trillion won in a 340,000pyeong site in Saemangeum, with funds to be allocated across an AI data center, the development of a renewable energy base, and the construction of an electrolysis plant. Jeonbuk Province expects this to generate significant production spillover effects and job creation.
Centered on Hyundai's robot manufacturing plant, the province plans to build an industrial ecosystem where research and development, demonstration, certification, and mass production of parts can continue in sequence, and also to establish a hydrogen production, storage, and utilization system connecting Buan, Saemangeum, and Wanju. In addition, it will develop Saemangeum into an AI data center hub and promote tailored industrial strategies for Gunsan, Gimje, and Buan in the region, as well as Jeonju, Iksan, Wanju, Jeongeup, and the eastern region.
