President Lee orders a fact-finding investigation into the death of a nurse who was victimized by workplace bullying

President Lee Jaemyung has ordered a thorough investigation into the case of a nurse in her 20s who died after suffering harm from workplace bullying, the socalled “taeum.”
On the 1st, President Lee shared a related report on social media platform X and said that taeum is violence that cannot be justified. He also asked the police to determine whether any illegal acts were involved.
The president said he would immediately begin a labor inspection of the hospital in question and conduct surprise inspections of medical institutions with a similar risk. He also stated that he would examine whether there had been workplace bullying and violations of laborrelated laws, and take strict action if any violations are confirmed.
The case is known to involve a nurse who worked at a hospital in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, left her job after suffering bullying, and later died while receiving treatment for depression. The president said he would also push for improvements to the organizational culture and working environment within hospitals, as well as enhancements to systems for preventing workplace bullying.
