The process to select the next chairman of KB Financial Group has been narrowed down to six firstround preliminary candidates. The Chairman Candidate Recommendation Committee will move on to the next stage of screening with four internal candidates and two external candidates.
The internal candidates include current KB Financial Group Chairman Yang Jonghee, Lee Jaegeun, head of the Global Business Division, Lee Changkwon, head of the Future Strategy Division, and Lee Hwanju, president of Kookmin Bank. The external candidates include former Woori Bank President Kwon Kwangseok and one other person who requested anonymity.
The recommendation committee plans to narrow the candidates down to three again through a firstround interview on the 27th of next month, then confirm one final candidate after a second indepth interview on September 11. After going through board review and approval at the extraordinary general shareholders' meeting in November, the new chairman will officially take office.
