Wang Huning Attends Reception Marking the 65th Anniversary of the Signing of the China-DPRK Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance

On July 16, Wang Huning, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, who is leading a Chinese party and government delegation on a formal friendly visit to North Korea, attended a reception in Pyongyang with Pak Thaesong, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Workers’ Party of Korea Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, and Premier of the Cabinet, to mark the 65th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between China and North Korea, and delivered a speech at the event. Wang Huning said that over the past 65 years, both sides of China and North Korea have always upheld the spirit of the treaty, supported each other, and worked in unity and cooperation, continuously deepening political mutual trust, exchanges and cooperation, and strategic coordination between the two countries. He said that the Chinese side is willing to continue implementing the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, carry forward the traditional friendship, promote the development of ChinaNorth Korea relations in the right direction, and contribute to peace and stability in the region and the world. Pak Thaesong said that since the signing of the treaty 65 years ago, it has played an important role in the development of North KoreaChina relations and the socialist cause of the two countries, as well as in safeguarding peace and stability in Northeast Asia. The North Korean side is willing to continue carrying forward the spirit of the treaty, strengthen North KoreaChina relations, and promote further development of the friendship between the two countries. During the event, the North Korean side also performed classic songs praising North KoreaChina friendship, and about 200 people from both North Korea and China took part.
