Park Ji-won calls for the party leadership’s mass resignation after the Democratic Party falls behind in approval ratings
With the Democratic Party’s approval rating falling, Park Ji-won raised the issue of leadership accountability and resignation. Amid concerns over factional conflict ahead of the party convention, restoring order and reforming the party are the top priorities.
On the 10th, Democratic Party lawmaker Park Jiewon called for the responsible resignation of the leadership, including party leader Jeong Cheongrae, citing a poll that showed the Democratic Party's approval rating trailing behind the People Power Party.
Park, appearing on MBC Radio, criticized the leadership for staying silent despite the Democratic Party's approval rating coming in lower than the People Power Party's. He also pointed to the recent decline in President Lee Jaemyung's approval rating in some surveys, saying that warning signs had been lit within the party.
He also expressed concern that factional conflict could intensify ahead of the August party convention, stressing that stabilizing and reforming the party should come before the race for party leadership. However, Park also noted that the poll figures showed a neckandneck contest within the margin of error.
