Chongqing’s "15th Five-Year Plan" period education community coverage will exceed 95%

The Chongqing Municipal Education Commission said that over the next five years, Chongqing will continue to advance the development of education communities in basic education, with the goal of achieving a coverage rate of more than 95% for education communities across the city by the end of the 15th FiveYear Plan. The local government will, through crossregional close pairing assistance, leverage highquality schools to help more schools improve their educational standards. As the distribution of schoolage population changes, Chongqing is also adjusting the allocation of educational resources in parallel: in central urban areas and towns with large population inflows, it will speed up the construction, reconstruction, and expansion of primary and secondary schools and increase places in general senior high schools; in rural areas with large population outflows and declining student numbers, it will consolidate small schools, improve the quality of rural boarding schools, and provide supporting school buses, transportation subsidies, and boarding guarantees. In terms of teacher deployment, Chongqing will continue to deepen the reform of "countymanaged, schoolemployed" staffing, promoting smoother mobility of teachers across school levels, subjects, and schools, and will strengthen crossschool teaching and crossdisciplinary transitions for shortage subjects such as physical education, aesthetic education, science, and mental health. At the same time, some idle school buildings will also be renovated according to local conditions into labor practice bases, teacher training and research centers, or community service venues, in order to improve resource utilization efficiency.
