A Red Lecture Hall Rooted in the Dabie Mountains

During the summer vacation, the He Clan Ancestral Hall in Hejiachong Village, Luoshan County, Xinyang, Henan, welcomed many visitors. Villager He Guiying used a simple and straightforward way of speaking to introduce the local revolutionary history to people. She said that the He family once sheltered Red Army soldiers at a critical moment, and that the elders were willing to take risks to protect revolutionaries. This episode left a deep impression on many visitors. Hejiachong is one of the starting points of the Long March of the 25th Red Army. The village preserves red cultural relics such as the He Clan Ancestral Hall, the former site of the Red Army Hospital, and an ancient ginkgo tree. In recent years, the local area has continued to protect and revitalize these resources, organizing retired Party members, descendants of the Red Army, and others to give voluntary guided tours, turning the old sites into a "reallife classroom" for students, tourists, and studytour groups.
