Wang Yi meets with Iran's Deputy Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Nezamipour

Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission, met with Nezamipour, deputy secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, in New Delhi on June 22. The two sides exchanged views on issues including the situation in the Middle East, progress in the IranUS talks, and ChinaIran relations. Wang Yi said that the Chinese side welcomes Iran and the US to continue advancing consultations with the assistance of Pakistan and Qatar, and hopes that the relevant arrangements can help consolidate the ceasefire and promote a deescalation of tensions in the region. He stressed that China supports efforts conducive to peace and is willing to continue to play a constructive role within its capabilities in restoring regional peace and stability. Wang Yi also said that China and Iran are comprehensive strategic partners, and China is willing to strengthen highlevel exchanges, enhance political mutual trust, and deepen practical cooperation with Iran, so as to promote the sustained and steady development of bilateral relations. Nezamipour briefed on the latest situation in the Middle East and the IranUS talks, and said that Iran attaches great importance to its relations with China and is willing to continue strengthening exchanges at all levels and coordination within multilateral frameworks.
