Guangxi deploys reservoir and flash flood disaster prevention work

The Guangxi Water Resources Department has deployed flood prevention efforts during the main flood season, strictly guarding the defense lines of reservoirs, hydropower stations, and flash flood disasters Strengthening inspection, dispatch, early warning, and evacuation to safeguard the safety of people's lives and property

The Department of Water Resources of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region recently held a video conference to make special arrangements for reservoir (hydropower station) flood safety and mountain flood disaster prevention during the main flood season, in response to the current continued heavy rainfall and flood risks. The meeting noted that since the start of this year's flood season, Guangxi has experienced multiple rounds of rainstorm and flood events that caused disasters. The flood situation has come early, occurred in many rounds, and been particularly extreme. Relevant departments were required to strengthen the inspection and rectification of hidden hazards in water projects, as well as operation and maintenance and floodcontrol dispatch, with a focus on monitoring the safety of reservoirs with defects, small hydropower stations, and water projects under construction. In terms of mountain flood disaster prevention, the meeting emphasized improving the monitoring, forecasting, and warning system and the public monitoring and mutual prevention system, implementing a progressive warning mechanism, ensuring a smooth process from warnings to evacuation, and strengthening inspections and verification before, during, and after rainfall. The meeting also required strict enforcement of the 24hour floodcontrol duty system, solid implementation of responsibilities such as the administrative head responsibility system, enhancement of emergency response capabilities, and safeguarding of people's lives and property.
