The camp of candidate Lee Daehyung, who lost by a 0.76 percentage point margin in the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education superintendent election, plans to file an election petition requesting a recount.
The camp explained that there were many invalid ballots and that it was necessary to verify the difference in vote totals between early voting and the main vote. However, it stated that it is not claiming election fraud.
In this election, incumbent Superintendent Do Seonghun was elected, and Lee lost by a margin of 11,220 votes. Under the Public Official Election Act, an election petition may be filed within 14 days after election day.
