Controversy over the Basic Income Party receiving government employment subsidies, disclosure of 81.18 million won in support details Check the background behind receiving subsidies for hiring young people and vulnerable groups, and job stability funds
It has been confirmed that the Basic Income Party received a total of 81,187,550 won in government employment subsidies and job stability funds, which were established to support youth employment, hiring of vulnerable groups, and ease the labor cost burden on small business owners.
According to National Assembly materials on the 11th, the Basic Income Party applied for and received the Youth Job Leap Incentive, Special Employment Promotion Incentive, and Job Stability Fund from the preparatory stage of its founding. In the process, the spouse of Yoon Hyein, the nominee for Minister of Gender Equality and Family, Park Kihong, and former acting party leader Moon Mijung were also included on some of the list of workers eligible for support.
The item received in the largest amount was the Youth Job Leap Incentive, totaling 40.8 million won. The Special Employment Promotion Incentive was 25.2 million won, and the Job Stability Fund was 15,187,550 won. The Ministry of Employment and Labor explained that political parties can also be eligible for support if they meet the industry classification and employment headcount criteria.
However, since the Basic Income Party has previously criticized the state subsidy system, there have also been remarks in political circles that the receipt was inconsistent with the purpose of the system. Rep. Lee Hyeonseung of the People Power Party said the system needs to be improved so that the budget is used for its intended purpose.
