The third batch of China’s antiepidemic medical expert team to assist the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has arrived in Kinshasa, the capital of the DRC, on August 1. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on the 4th that in response to the new wave of Ebola outbreaks in Africa, China has sent medical expert teams in succession to support the DRC and other countries in epidemic prevention, control, and treatment.
Lin Jian stated that the third batch of experts is composed of specialists in fields such as epidemiology, health quarantine, clinical treatment, and pathogen laboratory testing. Building on the work of the first two batches, they will continue to strengthen cooperation with the DRC side and international organizations, in line with local epidemic prevention needs.
He also said that the current Ebola outbreak is still spreading, and China is willing to continue providing Africa countries with support within its capacity, helping local areas bring the outbreak under control as early as possible and get through the difficult period.
