President Lee sits next to Trump at the G7 dinner to discuss North Korea issues

President Lee Jaemyung sat side by side with U.S. President Donald Trump and talked at the official dinner of the G7 summit held in Évian, France. At this dinner, President Lee continued the diplomatic event by introducing First Lady Kim Hyekyung to President Trump. According to the Blue House, President Lee asked President Trump to take the lead in peacefully resolving the North Korea issue, and President Trump expressed his intention to play the necessary role in making progress on Korean Peninsula issues. President Trump also described President Lee as a strong leader and expressed expectations that they could contribute together to peace and security on the Korean Peninsula. During this G7 schedule, no separate summit meeting between South Korea and the United States was held, but the two leaders made contact several times at events such as the group photo session and the official dinner. It was also reported that the two sides shared the importance of expanding cooperation in the shipbuilding sector and strengthening trilateral cooperation among South Korea, the United States, and Japan.
