People Power Party Floor Leader Election Postponed by One Day

Schedule adjustment for the People Power Party floor leader election—what is the background behind the agreement among candidates? Check the key issues quickly, including consideration of mobile voting

The People Power Party has decided to postpone the election for its next floor leader by one day, from the 9th to 10:00 a.m. on the 10th. Former floor leader Song Eonseok and lawmakers Kim Doeup, Seong Iljong, and Jeong Jeomsik, who are running, met on the 7th and agreed to adjust the schedule. The People Power Party had originally signaled a quick election out of concern that the floor leader vacancy would drag on, but some candidates raised concerns that the preparation period was too short. There were also criticisms within the party that the rushed schedule was aimed at backing a specific candidate. With this adjustment, the controversy over the election schedule appears to be calming down for now. Lawmaker Seong Iljong said they also decided to review a plan to allow mobile voting for lawmakers who are on overseas business trips.
