Wang Yi meets Rubio: New progress in China-U.S. relations and the direction of high-level communication Focus on implementing the consensus reached by the two heads of state, and promoting constructive cooperation and stable communication

Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Foreign Minister, met with U.S. Secretary of State Rubio in Manila on July 22. Wang Yi said that this is an important year for ChinaU.S. relations. The two heads of state of China and the United States previously held a meeting in Beijing, which pointed the way for both sides to advance a constructive and stable bilateral relationship, and also provided a basis for the two countries to strengthen communication and cooperation in multiple fields. Wang Yi stressed that the two sides now need to continue moving forward in the direction set by the leaders' meeting, reduce disruptive factors, properly handle differences, and promote the implementation of the consensus between the two countries into concrete actions in diplomacy and various fields. The two sides also exchanged views on hot international and regional issues, and agreed to continue maintaining communication through diplomatic channels and to promote arrangements for subsequent highlevel exchanges.
