On-site Party Lesson on the Suzhou Creek: Patrol Boat Transformed into a Lecture Platform

Xinhua News Agency, Shanghai, June 16 — A distinctive waterside Party class was launched on the Suzhou Creek in Shanghai. Participants traveled by boat along the river, passing redthemed venues and urban landmarks such as the site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Shanghai Federation of Trade Unions, the former site of the Fuxin Flour Mill, the Shanghai Postal Museum, and the Sihang Warehouse Battle Memorial Hall. This "Suzhou Creek Water Area Public Security Patrol Boat RealScene Party Class" was initiated by the Suzhou Creek Water Police Station of the Frontier and Port Aviation Branch of the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau. The commentator explained that, as water quality in Suzhou Creek has improved and the riverside shoreline has become connected, patrol boats have been turned into mobile classrooms, with police officers giving onsite explanations that combine red resources along the banks with urban changes. The report noted that many historical sites related to workers' movements, early Party organizations, and the hidden front struggle are concentrated along the banks of Suzhou Creek. By reviewing historical materials, conducting field visits, and organizing documents, police officers integrated red culture, Haipai culture, and Jiangnan culture into the script, allowing visitors to learn about the riverside buildings and historical memories during the boat journey. Since its launch in 2021, the project has received more than 700 groups and over 10,000 visitors.
