The Democratic Party of Korea is continuing internal discussions while reviewing differing opinions within the party on the timing and details of handling the bill for a special counsel investigation into the Yoon Sukyeol administration’s fabricatedprosecution case.
At a press briefing at the National Assembly on the 4th regarding the local elections, Democratic Party SecretaryGeneral Cho Seungrae explained that the bill was introduced with the intention that what was confirmed through the special committee for the parliamentary inquiry into fabricated prosecution requires a special counsel investigation. However, he said there are various opinions within the party regarding the timing and specific details of passing the bill, and added that the party would gather opinions and continue discussions.
Earlier, President Lee Jaemyung also agreed on the need to uncover the truth through a special counsel in relation to this matter, but asked the ruling party to judge the specific timing and procedures after collecting public opinion and deliberation.
